Get the app

Put Minnippi Residents Community on your phone's home screen. It opens like any other app, and it is the same site — nothing to download from an app store, and nothing to update.

On a computer

  1. Chrome and Edge show an install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar.
  2. In other browsers, a bookmark does the same job.
Another phone or browser

Samsung Internet

  1. Tap the ☰ menu at the bottom right.
  2. Tap Add page to.
  3. Tap Home screen, then Add.

Samsung Internet also has an Install button, but Android is currently refusing it ("Play Protect"). The menu above gives you the same icon and works exactly the same.

Chrome

  1. Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right.
  2. Tap Add to Home screen (it may say Install app).
  3. Tap Install.

Edge

  1. Tap the ⋯ menu at the bottom.
  2. Tap Add to phone.
  3. Tap Add.

Firefox

  1. Tap the ⋮ menu.
  2. Tap Add to Home screen.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up.
  2. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  3. Tap Add.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open minnippi.org in Safari — adding to the Home Screen works properly there.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up.
  3. Scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Your browser

  1. Open the browser's menu.
  2. Look for Add to Home screen, Install app or Add page to.

If your phone won't add it

  • You tapped Add and nothing happened. Some phones don't let a browser place an icon by itself. In the same box, press and hold the icon and drag it onto the home screen — that always works.
  • Play Protect says the app was blocked ("built for an older version of Android"). That is Android refusing the little app package the browser tried to build — nothing to do with this site. Use the menu steps above, press and drag, or add it from Chrome instead. Any of them gives you the same icon.
  • There is no Install button. Either it is already on your home screen, or your browser doesn't have one. The steps above still work.
  • It opens with the address bar showing. That's the shortcut version. Everything works, including staying signed in.

Notifications

Once the app is on your phone, open it, go to Settings and tap Turn on notifications on this device. You'll be told when a neighbour messages you or comments on your post, when there's news about something you sent in, or when an event you're going to is cancelled — each can be switched off there. On an iPhone or iPad this works only in the app on your Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later), not in Safari itself.

When you log in from the app, Keep me signed in on this device is already ticked, so next time it opens straight to your dashboard. Untick it on a tablet you share with your household, and log out when you're done.

The app shows exactly what the website shows and follows the same privacy rules.
